WHAT IS GUA SHA FACIAL MASSAGE?
The use of a Gua Sha is the ultimate form of at-home self care. If you are feeling like your skin needs a little TLC at the moment our new Gua Sha facial massage tool could be the answer. The Gua Sha has been part of traditional Chinese medicine since the 7th century. This ancient Chinese scraping technique is now used cosmetically to promote wellness, the Habitual Health Rose Quartz Gua Sha can help release muscle tension in the face, drain lymphatic fluid, improve skin health, add brightness and lift and tighten the skin.
BENEFITS OF A GUA SHA FACIAL MASSAGE:
- Reduces puffiness
- Increases circulation
- Releases muscular tension
- Lifts skin and contours the face
- Stimulates collagen production
This fairly simple treatment delivers a multitude of benefits, both immediate and long-term. First and foremost, gua sha promotes lymphatic drainage, thus reducing puffiness similarly it stimulates blood circulation, this increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients that reach the skin and can result in an overall clearer and brighter complexion.
After applying facial oils and serums, gently sweep it across the face and neck for 3-5 minutes, using upward and outward motions. You can follow these detailed step by step instructions below for more help on how to do your own Gua Sha massage at home. A. couple of tips to get started, 1. You don’t need to apply much pressure at all in order to reap the benefits and 2. Make sure the Gua Sha is kept on an angle to the face so it glides nice and easily.
HOW TO USE
2. Using your nose as an imaginary line, start on the right side of your face, starting at the jawline.
3. Use the indented side of the Gua Sha, and slide the beauty tool along the jawline up to the base of your ear. Repeat the motion 5-10 times, moving along upwards and out, never back and forth.
4. Place the Gua Sha on its flat side, at a slight angle, so that it glides over the skin without too much resistance or pulling. Sweep the tool in one long, upwards/outwards motion, towards the outer edges of the face – first from the chin, then the corner of mouth and cheek/nose. Repeat 5-10 times on each line.
5. Move to your brow, sweeping across from your centre of your face/beginning of brow to the hairline in one horizontal motion.
6. Move to your forehead, this time work vertically sliding the Gua Sha from the base of your forehead to the hairline.
7. Repeat on the other side of your face.
8. Once you have worked on those key areas, you can then come back and focus on any wrinkles or fine lines.
9. Finish your Gua Sha ritual by placing the pointed end of the tool in the depression point found in front of your ear. Move the tool up and around the ear, then continue the stroke down the neck. This action drains any toxins that may have accumulated during the routine.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE MY GUA SHA?
